Welcome to the UFA summer challenge URBAN ARTS web page.

In this summer challenge we are doing music with DJ Bob, dancing with Lincoln, making posters about the summer challenge in graffiti, playing lots of fun games, making CDs and CD covers, making this website, learning about the brain, mindmapping and having fun.

What Do We Hope To Achieve?

In this summer challenge we are hoping to learn many new things. The big challenge will be choreographing our own dances and learning how to mix our favourite music. We will also be learning aboout how the brain works.

Games

Some of the games we have played are:
Shuffle monster:
Everyone has a chair and spreads around the hall, one person stands up so there is a spare chair, they are the shuffle monster, the shuffle monster can only shuffle and he has to try and get to the empty chair, the other people have to try and stop him by sitting on the empty chair.
123:
Choose a leader, everybody except the leader gets a chair and make a circle, when the leader says 1 everybody moves one chair to the left, when the leader says 2 everybody moves one seat to the right, when the leader says 3 everybody sits down, the last person to sit down is out and so stays seated, if the leader shouts 3 when someone is behind an occupied chair they must run across the circle to the nearest free chair.
Pass the clap:
Everybody lies on the floor in a circle and link arms, you have to try and pass the clap around the circle as quickly as possible.
Bang:
Choose a leader, everyone makes a circle around the leader, when the leader shoots someone he or she has to duck down and the people on either side have to shoot each other, the first person to get shot sits down, you are shot when someone points at you and says BANG!, when you have only two people left you have a grand shootout, they stand back to back and take three steps forward, then when the leader says BANG! they have to turn and shoot each other, the first person to shoot the other person is the winner.

Mindmapping

A mindmap is a drawing that shows how the brain works, it allows you to show different aspects of a topic on the same sheet. it is  easy to draw and should be clear and easy to read.
To start you put your paper landscape, the write the topic in the middle, it should be bold and clear, then draw a thick stem in a diiferent colour, then write on that what you want it to represent, then draw little stems coming off it representing the things to do with that stem, they can be in writing or pictures, then repeat with all the stems you need.
